Alrighty ! How about Takayama for today ?! *like*
Day 4 Japan is the first day which a full day is allocated for cycle tour visit.
So far, we have been spending just a night in previous stops. Takayama
gets 2 nights stay! :D

Good Morning, folks !  Me Octopus headed. LOL
(idea to keep my hair down before cycling out)

at K House's Lobby Area before moving off.
kris looks like he had a rough night. Wahahaha

Visit to Hida no Sato in the morning.

A bit of an uphill climb there.

Best Shot of the Day.
some volunteer help us took this photo. they also took a shot with their DSLR camera.
u'll be encouraged to purchase theirs but its really optional.

The Famous Gassho Zukuri styled houses. These have World Heritage status.
they were moved here from Shirakawago region, their origin.

First House visit. the entire site is arranged with the most primitive
house design on left & progressively to more elaborate, advanced houses on right side

Manual Weaving device suggesting self-sufficiency in old times.

Pretending to be ... LOL

Close up look at Altar thingy

official map of site. most primitive house design on left & progressively to more elaborate,
advanced houses on right side

This is the simpler house design.
all houses features a central fire place for pple to gather.
with a "LCSG to the right " shot

Nakayabu's House. Bigger & better design. Noticed the house has a small gap around it ?
this is insulation from the sides. Also, the inside house sits on short stilts, to insulate from cold earth.

Let's go for the real deal !
Gassho Zukuri houses have steep sloping roof as defence against heavy snow.

a model exhibiting the unique architecture.

these houses are build entirely from natural resources. no nails were used,
as explained by the volunteer guide stationed there.
this is the roof , which is the house's store room. there are 3 levels.
level 2 is used for silk production.

staircase is the piece of wood. LOL
better buy insurance ! :p

Posing for a photography shot contrasting light & darkness.

the really big ! Taguchi's House.

Taguchi's House from 1809.

How's my new residence ?!  wahahaha

More Modern part of Takayama
