The Famous Gassho Zukuri styled houses. These have World Heritage status. they were moved here from Shirakawago region, their origin.

official map of site. most primitive house design on left & progressively to more elaborate, advanced houses on right side
This is the simpler house design.
all houses features a central fire place for pple to gather. with a "LCSG to the right " shot
Nakayabu's House. Bigger & better design. Noticed the house has a small gap around it ? this is insulation from the sides. Also, the inside house sits on short stilts, to insulate from cold earth.
Let's go for the real deal ! Gassho Zukuri houses have steep sloping roof as defence against heavy snow.
a model exhibiting the unique architecture.
these houses are build entirely from natural resources. no nails were used, as explained by the volunteer guide stationed there.
this is the roof , which is the house's store room. there are 3 levels. level 2 is used for silk production.
staircase is the piece of wood. LOL better buy insurance ! :p
Posing for a photography shot contrasting light & darkness.

More Modern part of Takayama
Walking the old towns. Passing by a lacquer ware shop.
Beautiful Lanterns like these lined the old town streets. *i got confuse with some of the photo's dates but we saw the same stuffs*
Me Brompton in Takayama.
Full river view
Me most favourite Japan drink. Grape flavour MISTIO !
Imported Takayama Bromptons ... :D

Crispy outer skin & meat but soft inner layer. with flavour bursting thru-out fish meat! I'll remember this meal for life !! :o
Another Very Happy Customer !
Gotto try this when u are in Takayama !! Restaurant only sells Unagi & is situated just next to a bridge.
The tiny casher area where the 2 old Aunties operate. turn right is kitchen area.
The Aunties gave Tascha a tiny little doll. So sweet... :D i should have taken a picture of them. Darn !!
Can't praise enough of this Unagi Restaurant ! (shot in the afternoon, we came back at night to eat again!) Kyaa..
