Day 8 Brompton Japan 2013

Hi folks ! its been a long, long time since my last update ! Haha ....
Been busy with work as well as doing fountain pen modifications for people. ;)

.
a Noodler's Konrad mod for flex & EF point for writing calligraphic scripts.

Anywayz.... Here goes Day 8 of my Brompton trip in Japan 2013.
So, we end up staying a night at Nagoya & unexpectedly enjoyed a street
band performance in the evening.
Today, We have a whole day for Nagoya city & planned a visit to Nagoya Castle
mainly plus some shopping around.

Whatz with this face in the morning, Kris !!?? Wahaha....

.
Toriyaki for Brunch. We woke up a bit late today u see. :p
.
Yakitori master working on flaming chicken sticks
.
Wua ! my portion is ready ! Looks good no ? :p

.
Alrighty ! Let's see if the chicken's death was worth it !! Hahaha...

U know, i would really love to give good marks for this, but seriously, i feel that
the chicken hasn't been dipped long enough for the flavour to infiltrate deep
into the inner sections of the meat.

The sauce tho, is very good ! Its sweet with hint of soy sauce & burned flavour.
Its the burned flavour that won me over & added a bit of complexity in taste.
Strangely love it !

.
Yea ! We are here ! at Nagoya Castle entrance.
.
How we lock our Bromptons at Entrance area. *sweat*
Seriously, anyone can just cut that tiny orange thing with a kindergarten scissors
& run away with out precious !!
.
Fortunately, it is going to be quite embarrassing for the Thief. Wahahaha :D
.
Our little fiddling activity attracted the curious castle entrance guard.
I made him commit to guard the bikes ! Wahaha...
"Yea, sure!" he said . Look at how small & cute these things are !

Beautiful flowers by the entrance ticket counter

Wuhoo !!

a glimpse of the magnificent Nagoya Castle !

.
Typical high castle walls to deter entrance into castle during an attack

.
Renovated interior. these are modern rocks it seems, not the old ones from the past.

Within the castle walls . me in awe of ancient green & size !

.
Unlike other castle, this one has Modern & air-conditioned comfort.
a little overdone IMO. would much prefer the castle in its original state.

Jaw dropping replica of castle's glory & its realm

.
Another beautiful castle model display

.
Amazing display of castle's interior & construction structures

Display of how rocks were moved with wooden rollers.
Those half naked guys are castle permanent residents. Wahaha....

A room of typical castle rooms & its layout.

This one is calligraphy & study room

This is a big model. Looks so real ! as if u could enter it!

Structural display. I believe this is where u would find Mr Ninja! LoL

I like this painting ! calming & zen like feel to it .
a lot of the exhibits are paintings like this. Big one, small ones.
probably a part of Japanese Treasure too.

.
Hey ! What can i say ! Its Mr Samurai again ! LoL
U'll always find one of these during castle visits.
Its strange, his helmet has got a target board.... -_- .. LoL
Its like .... Hey ! Hit me in the head wz an arrow if u can !
wahaha..

Fishy team shot. its a dedicated part of castle
just for photo taking

.
Out of castle for some omiyage shopping.
omiyage = Japanese Souvenir/Gift Shop

.
on the way out. They were building some new stuffs for tourists.
unfortunate it is not ready yet.

.
on closer inspection, looks like they employ traditional construction
methods to build this structure. Very impressive & exhibit of Japanese pride.

Thats abt it for today folks ! hahaha ..... were u expecting more !?

Well.... i was !! but i also got a bit lazy too.... a little regret now looking back.
i should have really taken more pics but then again we spent the rest of the
day cycling abt the city doing shopping & stuff. I mean.... its pretty normal
Japanese city scape u know. Nothing really spectacular abt it.

this year (2014), i am planning to go Japan to study japanese for 3 months !!
contemplating whether to bring the Brompton along or not ....
We'll see how it goes ya ! :D

Cheers !! :D
